Hi Guys
I'm looking for advice what I can do to help this little peachicks. I suspect it might eat some straw and be impacted. I can't see anything down his throat, his crop seems to be empty. I syringe feed it cooked yolk watered down every couple of hours and gently massaging crop and belly area. Anything else I could do to try help him to pass it? I moved straw from them now.

What makes you think it's impacted? How old is the peachick? Is it producing droppings?

You can try coconut oil. I think any oil can help but coconut oil works well because it's solid so you can place small pieces in the beak without risk of aspiration.

Molasses would be another thing to try. You could mix some in with the egg yolk you are feeding.

Thank you,
It's 3 weeks old now, I'm not sure about droppings as it's with another 4 chicks, I tried to separeted it but it was stressed and wasn't settling, jumping on walls around so thought it will be better with others. I gave it liquid paraffine 2 hours ago (2 ml with 2ml of water). It moves it's neck in a way like standing upright and stretching neck like is trying to swallow, that's what made me feel it's impacted.

You do everything right - remove the straw, feed the yolk with water, massage. You can also carefully give a few drops of olive or coconut oil (food) - this will help lubricate the intestines. Heat is very important, stress worsens the condition. If you have probiotics or electrolytes for chicks at hand, add them to the water. And observe if pasting does not appear (when the poop sticks under the tail). I hope the baby will start to pass on his own soon
Thank you. I gave it liquid paraffine as it's only thing I had on hand atm. I have parrot probiotics I I use for my hawk if that's any good?

Is it stretching its neck straight up or at an odd angle? Any mouth gaping? If so, it could be either a bacterial infection or a nutritional deficiency. Start with the simpler condition first. Do you have any nutra drench?

Stretching straight up and more swallowing than gaping. I tried to attach video but no success 🫤

How is it now? That's great that it's pooing.

I would withold regular food and give it something wet and easy to digest. The egg you're giving is great but if the food it was eating on its own was moist as well, that would be good. You could leave out some moist scrambled egg and a mash made with molasses and applesauce. Are you able to get Kaytee baby bird food where you are?

If you've given them access to anything other than chick starter then make sure they have grit. I would also treat it for coccidiosis.

Can you feel around for any blockages? I had a chicken chick a couple of years ago that was doing exactly what you describe and I found a small lump down in the lower intestinal area. I treated it as I described above as well as massaging the lump regularly. It turned out to be fine and healthy but never grew as large as the others.
