All flock or flock raiser. So what is best to feed them if you have both in your flock?
I saw where some use all flock and have oyster shell available and it is the same and you will get the same egg production... but when reading on layer feed bag there are more vitamins and higher levels of other things than the all flock. The all flock is 20% protein and the laying feed is 16-17% protein.
The lysine and methionine (amino acids that are parts of some proteins) look a lot better in the 20%, which I’m assuming is all-flock, as do some of the other nutrients.Sent this yesterday and it didnt post? Maybe it will this time?
There are 2 diff ones. They have extra vit A,D,E and one has niacin. Both of these are for laying hens. But if flock raiser or all flock still gives good eggs then that is the direction i will still go. I had read that you need to use feed specifically for hens laying eggs for the biggest and most eggs is why i was considering the change. Thank you for your assistance.Sent this yesterday and it didnt post? Maybe it will this time?
We have always done eggshells.. bake them when we have a big cookie sheet full... then run them thru a large commercial food processor to make small pieces. THEY LOVE IT! The roosters will scratch and call to the hens like he found a goodie but they never eat them... seems they know?? HahaThe lysine and methionine (amino acids that are parts of some proteins) look a lot better in the 20%, which I’m assuming is all-flock, as do some of the other nutrients.
I’d go with the 20% with oyster shells and egg shells on the side for the layers. The roos/ cockerels won’t bother with them.
