Of the 8 chicks we picked up, 2 of them are Rustic Rocks. I was told these are one of the easiest to tell if they are male or female when hatched, like a 2% possibility of being incorrect. I'm 90% sure one of them is a cockerel (5 weeks old). What do we do if it is and do not want it waking all of the neighbors up each morning? 😳

If your area allows roosters and you want to keep him I'd wait until they start crowing, then ask the neighbors if it bothers them.

My yard if 50 ft x 70 ft and I have two cockerels that crow really early and I panicked thinking the neighbors would want my head on a pike. I waited a week or so after the crowing started, then asked if it was bothering them and they hadn't noticed. The coop/run is less than 150 ft from each of their houses.

Post pictures in the breed/gender thread, someone can help you determine if it is a cockerel or not.
